2026 Opening

The Museum plans to open to the public on Sunday 5th April and each Sunday thereafter until 4th October. Opening times 12.30 to 17.00.

This season we will also opening on selected Wednesdays during school holidays to offer even more days on which you can come and visit.

For more information, see our events page for a full listing of dates we are open to the public in 2026, and for more information on special events being hosted at Scottish Vintage Bus Museum.

Visits include a trip on a vintage bus and an optional visit to the railway (extra cost).

We look forward to welcoming visitors in 2026.

King Alfred Olympic begins the road to restoration at the SVBM

Friends of King Alfred Buses (FoKAB) says it is delighted to announce that its 1950 Leyland Olympic JAA 708, which had already been fully restored and relaunched in 2012 but was badly damaged in a fire at its storage premises in late 2023, has now arrived at the Scottish Bus Museum at Lathalmond to undergo a full restoration

A New FREE Service

As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance accessibility to the bus museum, we are pleased to announce a new service for visitors.

On Sundays, a free shuttle bus will be available from the Dunfermline Bus Station Stance 14 to the bus museum.The shuttle bus will depart from Dunfermline at 12:30PM, and the return journey from the museum will commence at 3:30PM.

Please note that alternative arrangements will be made for special events.

We hope this new service will make it easier for you to visit the bus museum and enjoy its exhibitions and exhibits.
